The term Blotterart originally referred to the absorbant paper that liquid LSD was dropped onto, the artwork was printed onto blotting paper and then perforated into tiny squares, which would be torn apart and taken orally.

In the 60's with the hippy movement and the summer of love LSD was legal, it was distributed largely on pills and evan sugar cubes. When LSD was made illegal a mandatory sentence was placed on offenders based on weight, so the dealers soon figured out that if they used paper it would weigh almost nothing compared to a batch of lsd on pills.

So blotter art was born dealers soon wanted to trademark there acid and printed there own designs on sheets this served to identify brand and quality, this has led to the iconic images we see today.

All our prints are printed on the same blotting paper used by the dealers way back when, we pride ourselves in this and think we are the only people to do so, Its not illegal, its art and we love it.
